Skylar Swart is from Buffalo, New York, but fell in love with Maryland on her very first visit. Skylar attended Syracuse University and earned her bachelor’s degrees in political science and newspaper and online journalism. She knew from a young age that she wanted to be an attorney and started law school at Syracuse University College of Law immediately following undergrad. Skylar graduated cum laude with her J.D. and an LL.M. in Advocacy and Litigation. Skylar will be admitted to practice law in Maryland in November 2026.

During law school, Skylar was an avid member of the trial team. She spent a year interning as in-house counsel for Burger King and Popeyes and then interned at a civil litigation firm in upstate New York. After moving to Maryland in August 2025, Skylar worked at a Washington, DC, lobbying firm. After graduating from law school, Skylar joined Hartman, Attorneys at Law as an associate in October 2026. Skylar will be licensed to practice law in Maryland. In her free time, Skylar enjoys traveling, cooking, reading, and watching football.
